About

Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes are highly disadvantageous communities in our society. An unequal society likes our where social stratification occupied primacy over all other form of stratification, it is the responsibility of the educational institutions to provide not only an equal opportunity platform for students from marginalized communities mainly SCs/STs but also create proper awareness among students regarding human values and societal commitment towards the protection of human rights regardless of caste, creed, race, color, gender etc. The college also took the responsibilities to provide proper guidelines and counseling to students belong to SC/ST communities for a level play. Our College constituted a SC/ST Rights Protection Committee with one Coordinator and other member in this regards as per UGC guidelines issued time to time.

Objective:

To oversee the effective implementation of policies and programmes for disadvantaged groups, to provide guidance and counselling with respect to academic, financial, social andother matters and to enhance the diversity within the campus.

Function:

  • To create a socially congenial atmosphere for academic interaction and for the growth of healthy interpersonal relationships among the students coming from various social backgrounds.
  • To make efforts to sensitize the academic community regarding the problems associated with social exclusion as well as aspirations of the marginalized communities.
  • To help individuals or a group of students belonging to the disadvantaged section of society to contain the problems related to discrimination problems.
  • To disseminate the information related to schemes and programmes for the welfare of the socially weaker section as well as notifications/memoranda, office orders of the Government, or other related agencies/organizations issued from time to time.
  • To adopt measures to ensure due share of utilization by SC/ST in admissions, recruitments (teaching and non-teaching posts) and to improve their performances.
  • To sensitize the college on the problems of SC/ST and other disadvantaged groups.
  • And other responsibilities directed to Higher Education Institutions by The UGC in various regulations and letters
