College Student Council

About Council

As there is a ban on the Students’ Union elections, the College did not have an elected Students Council. But, to encourage the participative role of the Students in the Administration and to inculcate the leadership qualities in the Students, the College has adopted a system of electing Class Representatives (CRs) from each Class to performthe duties of the students’ general body. Usually, the meritorious and an activestudent of the Class is nominated as Class represented by the students.

The College also has a Students’ Advisory Committee with Senior Faculty members. As class representatives, under the supervision of the faculty, Students play avital role in planning of the College events such as awareness campaigns, conducting fresher’s day, Independence Day, Teachers’ Day, Science day theCollege Annual day. They receive the guests, anchor the Cultural programs and organize the whole event on their own. They are also actively involved inorganizing various programs such as Blood donation camp, Swachha Bharat Programs, Red Ribbon Cub, cleanand green in thecampus. ClassRepresentatives works with various committees in planning and organizingcultural events, sports activities, guest lectures, Seminars workshops ,extension activities i.e. rallies, adoption of villages, community servicesetc.,(under NSS NCC programs).

The Class representatives are included in the various committees, thus, involving them in planning and implementation of various activities in the college.

However, since the academic year 2018-19, the college administration adopted an indirect election method of electing various office bearers of the Student Council. As discussed above, each department nominates a class representative from each class and the body of Class Representatives will constitute the General body to elect following office bearers:

  • President
  • Vice-President
  • General Secretary
  • Secretary (Cultural)
  • Secretary (sports)
  • One N.C.C. Nominee
  • One N.S.S. Nominee

Every year election for the student council has been conducted under the supervision of two Teacher Advisors and an Observer duly appointed by the principal for such. The student council is involved in all activities and committees of the college, supported and advised by the faculty members.
